Winter Squash

$5.00

1 plant/3.5” or 4” pot.

Squash are cold sensitive! When growing them outdoors in Central Oregon, we recommend always growing them under the shelter of a mini hoophouse with plastic that you can lift up during the day for ventilation and close in the evening to retain heat, especially into the fall when encouraging fruits to fully mature.

‘Butterbush’ Butternut Squash: Expected days to maturity in Central Oregon: 89 - 99 days. 3–4 foot long vines make it a prime candidate for containers or tight spaces. At about 1 ½ pounds each, these true, single-serving squash have sweet, rich, coppery-red flesh.

‘Orangeti’ Spaghetti Squash: Expected days to maturity in Central Oregon: 84 days. 3-4.25 lb fruits are oblong like a traditional spaghetti squash, but mature to a brilliant orange instead of pale yellow. Flesh is a vivid yellow-orange and pulls apart into "noodles" when cooked. Early maturing on vining plants.

‘Racer’ Pumpkin: Expected days to maturity in Central Oregon: 99 days. Blocky midsize pumpkin with a great-looking rib and big, dark green handle. Typical weight 12–16 lbs. Highly productive, vigorous, short vine. Developed by the University of New Hampshire and Johnny’s Selected Seeds.
