Join BUG and John Pitney on Thursday, June 25 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm at his residential orchard in Bend. Address will be sent after registration is received.
John’s net zero residence was featured on the 2024 Green Tour, showcasing the property’s innovative grey water irrigation system.
John will share about the varieties of apples, pears, plums, peaches, apricots, and grape varieties he has planted.
Check out his oblique cordon trained pears, tall spindle trained apples, dwarf apples and peaches pruned to stay 4 feet tall or shorter.
He also has fan-trained/pruned peaches and apricots in a 50 foot long fence behind the house, along with dwarf apples planted 3 trees to a hole and pruned as if they are one tree.
John is also experimenting with various methods of coddling moth control in a neighborhood infested with them.
$28 registration includes delicious charcuterie delicacies from Wild Petals, along with other refreshments, including cider from Bend Cider Co.
