Phasing into an incredible community space…

This generous, kind-hearted family purchased the lot next door to to theirs and transformed it into a neighborhood recreational space for playing pickle ball, enjoying films outdoors, and for growing and sharing food! After our initial consultation, we launched into a design phase. Once we landed on the master dimensions of their future enclosed garden space, the family opted to tackle the construction of the garden in phases to minimize the overwhelm of getting started. BUG built four raised garden beds and a couple mini hoophouses for them in year 1. They also invested in a personalized crop plan to help maximize their space and short(er) growing season on the westside of Bend. Garden lessons were scheduled to bring that plan to life. In Year 2, they jumped into planning and planting their veggie garden beds on their own and BUG returned to install interior perimeter beds, extend their drip irrigation line, add some round beds for interest, build trellises for berries, and mapped out their additional plantings in a revised personalized crop plan!
